Restructuring and Insolvency

We have a diverse international Restructuring and Insolvency practice serving a broad range of clients and providing creative solutions to transactional and adversarial difficulties resulting from financially distressed circumstances. 

We regularly represent debtors, lenders, distressed investment funds, creditors’ committees, equity holders and committees, plan proponents, trustees, asset purchasers, vendors, landlords, receivers, and other interested parties in a wide variety of insolvency situations across our three main geographical sectors: the Americas; Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Asia Pacific. 

Our international network of offices enables us to provide coordinated cross-border restructuring advice to our clients. We assist clients in strategic planning, documentation, negotiation, litigation, and all aspects of cases filed globally. The group’s core competencies include corporate reorganization, in- and out-of-court restructurings and insolvencies, debtor-creditor relationships, and bankruptcy, including litigating issues related to all of the above in bankruptcy courts.

Our clients span virtually all sectors including: retail, government, manufacturing, transportation and logistics, energy, private equity, hospitality, technology, financier services, health care, aviation, franchising, agriculture, and real estate. 

The group’s collective experience on both the debtor and creditor side allows us to understand all sides of a problem or opportunity and to structure creative, informed, and practical solutions to protect and advance our clients’ interests. Americas

Providing coverage from the East to West coasts, our integrated team handles a wide variety of commercial insolvency situations in state and federal insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings as well as out of court restructurings and distressed M&A transactions, including asset sales in Chapter 11. The team partners with subject matter and industry experts across the firm with a comprehensive approach to provide clients with practical solutions to complex and challenging issues arising from distressed circumstances.

Europe, the Middle East, and Africa 

Our team in EMEA advises on all aspects of restructuring and insolvency work in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and in association with local firms, Saudi Arabia, as well as multiple other jurisdictions where English law is the governing law of the transaction. Our work includes acting for creditors, debtors, distressed debt investors, insolvency professionals, loan agents, bond trustees, servicers, and special servicers across the full range of financial instruments.

Asia Pacific

The Asia Pacific team has the depth and capability required to handle the most complex restructuring and insolvency matters, including liquidations, administrations, receiverships, and bankruptcies. The team advises clients across a range of industries on formal and informal workouts, security enforcement, standstill and forbearance arrangements, and insolvent transactions. The team is based in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, and Singapore and has the ability to work seamlessly across borders utilizing our platform of 11 offices in the APAC region.
