K&L Gates Strengthens Corporate and Transactional Team with Addition of Returning Melbourne Partner

1 December 2016

Melbourne - Global law firm K&L Gates continues to bolster its corporate and transactional practice with the return of John Mann as a partner in the Melbourne office. Mann joins from Clarendon Lawyers.

Mann is a leading corporate/M&A veteran with more than 25 years of experience. He has a particular focus on negotiated/unregulated mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, corporate structures, restructures, regulatory issues, contracts, and business law advice.

Mann started his career in 1988 at Middletons and was promoted to partner at the firm in 1995. During his time with Middletons (which combined with K&L Gates in January 2013), he was a board member for over eight years and was actively involved across a broad cross-section of firm initiatives, including knowledge management, pro bono, corporate social responsibility, and diversity.

“I’m excited to rejoin my colleagues at K&L Gates,” said Mann. “Having started with the firm in 1988, there is a great sense of returning home. I look forward to delivering to my clients the full resources of a globally integrated platform, particularly as we continue to service an increasing volume of cross border transactions.”

Nick Nichola, K&L Gates’ Managing Partner, Australia, stated: “Over the course of 25 years, John made a substantial contribution to the firm, and we are absolutely delighted that he is returning. His energy and his passion for his work, his clients, and his colleagues will be a great asset to the firm. John is highly regarded in both the marketplace and across our firm, and I have no doubt he will make a great impact from the day he returns. John’s appointment further strengthens our corporate and transactional team, which also has recently added Sydney partners Nick Humphrey, Dan Atkin, and Hal Lloyd, and Brisbane partners Phillip Vickery and Jeremy Prentice.”

K&L Gates comprises approximately 2,000 lawyers globally who practice in fully integrated offices located on five continents. The firm represents leading multinational corporations, growth and middle-market companies, capital markets participants and entrepreneurs in every major industry group as well as public sector entities, educational institutions, philanthropic organizations and individuals.
