Panel Discussion on Climate Change and Risk Mitigation for Business Leaders (Including GCs and Senior Lawyers)
This panel discussion will address the most impactful climate change risks that businesses are likely to encounter over the next 10–20 years. We will discuss how businesses can best prepare for and mitigate climate change risks and explore some of the potential opportunities. Our speakers will also highlight some practical tips businesses should consider to minimize the impact of climate driven events, including from a contractual standpoint, a litigation perspective and with a view to maximizing any potential insurance coverage. We will hear from a diverse panel, with input from one of the leading universities at the forefront of climate change research, a leading barrister involved in climate change litigation and the insurance broker industry.
Panelists and moderators shall include:
- Dr. Jesse F. Abrams - Senior Research Fellow at Exeter University, focused on quantifying human induced change on the natural environment. His research stretches across multiple disciplines including climate, geoengineering, and biodiversity and he uses data science to understand and address issues of sustainability.
- Anna Hoffmann - Barrister at 4 Pump Court with a particular focus on climate change litigation including greenwashing claims, shareholder litigation and directors’ duties cases.
- Peter Carter - Head of Climate Practice at WTW, leading a combined climate, risk and analytics practice at an advisory and broking company which focuses on helping clients quantify, mitigate and transfer climate related risks.
- Sarah Turpin - Partner at K&L Gates in the Insurance Recovery and Counseling practice (moderator)
