Greg Blase is a partner in the consumer financial services practice at K&L Gates. He advises financial services clients including banks, fintechs, and investors in those entities on compliance with federal and state consumer laws. He advises clients facing supervisory exams and enforcement action by federal and state regulators, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. He defends clients in complex litigation, including class actions. He takes a holistic approach to addressing legal risk, recognizing the importance of bringing stakeholders together to solve problems collectively. Greg assists clients in the following areas:
- Advise financial services clients on compliance with ECOA, EFTA, FCRA, FDCPA and state analogues, GLBA, RESPA, TCPA and state analogues, and state unfair and deceptive acts and practices laws.
- Advise clients on emerging regulatory issues including open banking / open finance, artificial intelligence in payments and financial services, vendor management, and use of alternative data in underwriting.
- Represent financial services clients financial institutions in supervisory exams, civil investigations, and civil enforcement matters by the CFPB and other federal and state agencies.
- Defend financial services clients in complex and class action litigation.
- Assist private investors in assessing potential compliance and litigation risk in connection with due diligence on potential acquisition targets in the financial services and fintech sector.
