Charles I. Malone

Charles (Charlie) Malone, a partner in the firm’s Nashville office, is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, professional liability defense, and catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims. Charlie tries jury and bench trials in federal and state courts as well as litigates disputes before arbitration panels and other quasi-judicial and regulatory bodies. Additionally, Charlie has developed significant experience conducting internal investigations on behalf of corporate boards of directors. Charlie is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, where fellowship is extended by invitation only to highly experienced trial lawyers who excel in the art of advocacy while embodying ethical and professional conduct.

Charlie’s extensive experience and areas of focus include:

  • federal and state court fiduciary duty litigation in the context of both public and private companies;
  • business fraud, breach of contract, business / joint venture divorce, and insurance coverage claims in federal and state court and in arbitration;
  • restrictive covenant, non-compete, unfair competition, and trade secret litigation;
  • service as investigatory and advisory counsel to special litigation committees and other committees of boards of directors;
  • catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death litigation on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants; and
  • representation of local, regional and national law firms and their lawyers in a variety of claims and in regulatory proceedings before state agencies.
