Before attending law school, he worked for a medical device division of a Fortune 100 company doing marketing, data analytics, and sales. During law school, he was a judicial extern for the Hon. Holly F. Clemons of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois, Editor in Chief of the Illinois Business Law Journal, College of Law Moot Court Board Member, College of Law Trial Team Member, and Treasurer of the Black Law Students Association. Prior to joining the firm, Marvis served as an associate at a large U.S. law firm where he also concentrated his practice in complex commercial litigation and business disputes.
Marvis has extensive experience in all phases of litigation, including case evaluation and investigation, preparation of pleadings, fact witness depositions, expert witness depositions, dispositive motion practice, settlement negotiations, client consultation, trial and appeal. Over the course of his career he has successfully represented a diverse clientele in a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters. Including, but not limited to, defense and prosecution of breach of contract and fraud claims; Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) actions; Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) class actions; commercial real estate enforcement actions concerning contracts, fraud, the Fair Debt and Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Illinois Eviction Act; employment class action disputes concerning the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act (IWPCA) and the Illinois Minimum Wage Law (IMWL); matters on behalf of banking institutions; as well as high exposure premises and product liability matters.
Marvis has also first chaired and second chaired bench and jury trials.
