Zachary S. Jones

Zach is an associate and member of the Commercial Disputes practice group. Zach’s practice covers a broad range of litigation and arbitration matters, ranging from simple breach of contract actions and business torts to more complex cases involving theft of trade secrets, energy infrastructure and construction disputes, securities class actions, corporate governance disputes and breach of fiduciary duty actions, and private equity investment and M&A-related disputes. Zach represents clients in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitrations under the American Arbitration Association (AAA), JAMS, and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) rules. 

Zach’s experience cuts across industries and borders, representing clients in the renewable energy and oil/gas sectors, public utilities, manufacturers and investors in telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, and transportation sectors, US representatives of foreign issuers, financial services, and investment/wealth management companies, and family offices. 

Zach has experience handling all phases of discovery, including electronic discovery and other electronically stored information (ESI), document collection, review, and production, and discovery disputes. Zach also has extensive experience drafting dispositive motions, as well as trial experience preparing witnesses for direct and cross examinations and negotiating and drafting settlement agreements.

Zach also maintains a robust pro bono practice, representing individuals in New York Family Court proceedings, immigration courts, and in matters before USCIS, including securing dismissals of deportation proceedings and helping clients navigate the green card process. Zach also works on matters assisting clients with expungement of criminal records in New York state courts.

After graduating from the University of Georgia, Zach worked in Washington, D.C. as a policy analyst for the government affairs practice of global law firm. At Columbia Law School, Zach was a competitor and student coach for a national environmental law moot court competition, taught an undergraduate survey course on energy regulation, and participated in a legal externship with the Domestic Violence Bureau of the Queens County District Attorney’s office.

Prior to joining the firm, Zach served as a law clerk in the corporate practice group of a New York-based full service firm where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions and securities-related matters.
