Neil C. Scott

Neil Scott is a senior associate in the Mass Tort and Product Liability practice group. His practice focuses on class actions, multidistrict litigations, mass tort coordinated proceedings, and complex commercial disputes. He has experience in all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, coordinating discovery, working with fact and expert witnesses, preparing for trial, and formulating arguments on appeal. Neil also has extensive international and domestic arbitration experience and has appeared before tribunals in the United States and Europe.  

Neil has represented numerous Fortune 500 companies, including industrial manufacturers, chemical manufacturers, energy companies, credit reporting agencies, financial institutions, and telecommunications companies. His recent experience includes representing a multinational energy corporation in multiple coordinated proceedings, including a federal MDL and a mass tort coordinated proceeding in Philadelphia, in which thousands of plaintiffs alleged health effects following exposure to an historical herbicide. 

Prior to law school, Neil worked in corporate compliance at a large commercial bank headquartered in Pittsburgh. His responsibilities included working with in-house and outside counsel to ensure regulatory compliance with the Dodd-Frank Act and Basel Accords.  

During law school, Neil served as a judicial extern to Judge Jack Zouhary of the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. He also served as an extern in the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio.

Before joining the firm, Neil worked for a global law firm in New York for over six years focusing on complex commercial litigation.

Neil is committed to public service. He has represented victims of domestic abuse seeking special immigration status. He has also served as counsel in the Western District of Pennsylvania’s Pro Se Pro Bono Mediation Program, which pairs pro se litigants with volunteer counsel. In law school, Neil also provided pro bono representation to start-up companies in the Columbus, Ohio area as part of an entrepreneurial business law clinic.
