Kayla E. King-Heyer

Kayla King-Heyer is an associate in the firm’s Labor, Employment, and Workplace Safety practice. She focuses on defending employers in a wide range of employment-related disputes relating to allegations of discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour claims, restrictive covenants, and workplace safety. Kayla represents clients in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies in a range of employment disputes, including claims arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.

Kayla regularly advises employers on a wide variety of employment issues, including employee separations, discrimination, harassment, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, restrictive covenants, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Kayla also assists clients with drafting employment-related documents including offer letters, arbitration agreements, non-disclosure and restrictive covenant agreements, employee handbooks and policies, and separation agreements. In addition, Kayla has experience conducting internal employment investigations, including investigations involving allegations of sex discrimination and workplace safety violations.

Kayla also regularly advises clients and conducts diligence and drafts documents for complex labor and employment issues relating to mergers and acquisitions. 

Prior to joining the firm, Kayla served as an associate at a Boston firm where she focused her practice on labor and employment matters. 

During law school, Kayla spent two years as a teaching assistant in Boston College Law School’s Law Practice seminar for first-year law students. In 2022, she interned for an administrative judge at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
