K&L Gates Represents JAPEX in Equity Investment in E&P Peoria

Global law firm K&L Gates LLP advised JAPEX (US) Corp. (JAPEX), the US arm of Japan Petroleum Exploration Co. Ltd., in connection with its equity commitment in Peoria Resources, LLC, a newly formed exploration and production company based in Houston, Texas.

The transaction comes as part of JAPEX’s plans to invest up to US$1.5 billion in exploration and development projects through the end of 2030 and is an extension of JAPEX’s existing oil and gas business in the US. 

The K&L Gates team for JAPEX was led by New York partner Toshi Yoshida and Houston partner Robert George, with assistance from New York partner Jay Buchman, Dallas partner Brent Hockaday, Houston associate Hilary Soileau, New York associate Jane Steffens, and Miami associate Stephen Vinson.
