K&L Gates Honored by Longtime Client Chevron U.S.A. for Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives
Pittsburgh - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP recently was recognized by longtime client Chevron U.S.A. for the firm’s commitment to inclusion and diversity. The honor was announced during Chevron’s 2018 annual law firm diversity awards program, recognizing Chevron law firm partners that have distinguished themselves through their commitment to diversity in the legal profession and by fostering an inclusive work environment.
Nicholas Ranjan, a litigation partner in the firm’s Pittsburgh office and relationship manager to Chevron, accepted the award on behalf of the firm. A member of the firm’s global diversity committee, Ranjan serves as both the pro bono coordinator and chairman of the local diversity committee for the firm’s Pittsburgh office. He is active in leading diversity initiatives within the firm and throughout the community, including having served as the firm’s 2017 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow and having been the recipient of a Leadership Excellence Award from the Pittsburgh Leadership Conference.
“It is great to work with clients who ‘get it’ when it comes to diversity and inclusion,” said Ranjan. “I was proud to accept this award from Chevron on behalf of our firm and am grateful to work with people both at K&L Gates and in the client community that are genuinely committed to a culture of excellence and inclusion.”
K&L Gates has received multiple recognitions in recent months and years for its commitment to opportunities for diverse lawyers, including a seventh Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) this June; an eighth consecutive rating as a “Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality” from the Human Rights Campaign in May; an “Employer of Choice for Gender Equality” certification by the Australian Workplace Gender Equality Agency; and a designation by Yale Law Women as a “Top Ten Family Friendly Firm,” along with a number of similar awards from other clients.
The firm also sponsors or participates in a number of diversity-related programs, including Corporate Counsel Women of Color (CCWC), Diversity Council Australia, Equality Campaign Australia, the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL), the National Bar Association, the National LGBT Bar Association, and the Stonewall (UK) Global Diversity Champions Program.
