K&L Gates Enhances Litigation Practice With Orange County Partner Addition
Orange County – Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Eva M. Weiler as a partner in its Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. Weiler joins the firm’s Orange County office from Shook Hardy & Bacon.
Weiler focuses her practice on defending corporations in science-driven class actions, mass torts, and individual matters. She has experience serving as the lead in-court lawyer in complex coordinated proceedings, managing large numbers of single and multi-plaintiff cases with multiple co-defendants, and handling complicated science presentations, bellwether-case selection arguments, large-scale document production format disputes, and jurisdictional challenges with the court.
She has worked closely with clients, counsel, and witnesses in federal and state court litigation and pre-litigation matters involving pharmaceuticals, medical devices, supplements, household goods, vehicles, security products, and environmental claims. Weiler has also been responsible for and worked on a wide variety of other matters, such as business disputes, environmental sustainability issues, breaches of contract, interference with business relationships, misappropriation of confidential information, insurance coverage disputes, and employment matters.
Michael Hedge, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Orange County office, commented: “Eva’s track record of effective advocacy on behalf of her clients in everything from delicate individual contract negotiations to high-volume litigation and aggressive discovery demands has given her credibility with judges, clients, and opposing counsel. I’m excited for her to further strengthen our mass tort and product liability capabilities in Southern California and across the firm’s global practice.”
Melissa Tea, a leader of the firm’s global Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, stated: “We are delighted to welcome Eva to our Litigation team. Her extensive experience across a broad range of product liability and mass tort claims, including in the area of emerging contaminants, aligns perfectly with our practice’s strategic priorities. We know Eva will be a significant contributor to our efforts to deliver exceptional service to our clients.”
Weiler's arrival follows the addition of Seattle partner John Bender to the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice last year along with the hires of Corporate partner Mattias Luukkonen and Intellectual Property partner Fei Shen in Orange County.
