Export Control

Advised a major US defense and aerospace manufacturer on compliance with ITAR requirements for hypersonic technologies.
Conducted an internal investigation of suspected ITAR and EAR compliance issues at an international advanced materials company; advised on updates to policies, procedures, and existing Technology Control Plans to address the deficiencies and process gaps identified.
Counseled a US information technology and cybersecurity company on internal investigations of suspected export control violations, voluntary self-disclosures, license applications, product classification, and compliance issues involving encryption, wireless, and networking technologies.
Assisted a US network security and anti-intrusion software provider with export control licensing, investigations, and voluntary disclosures arising in connection with its acquisition of a global information technology company.
Conducted an internal investigation of potential export control violations arising from sponsored research programs at a US university.
Delivered in-house training programs for employees and senior officials of a multi-national semiconductors company on compliance with the ITAR and other export control regulations.
Advised an advanced materials manufacturer on ITAR and other export control requirements related to its establishment of manufacturing facilities in the United States, India, Mexico, Hungary, and the UK.
Advised a provider of commercial satellite services on compliance with the ITAR, EAR, and US economic sanctions.
Obtained CHIPS Act funding and export control licenses for a semiconductor manufacturing equipment producer.

CFIUS

Successfully resolved without penalty or mitigation an investigation of an alleged non-notified transaction involving a semiconductor technology company.
Successfully resolved without penalty a non-notified acquisition of a US company engaged in activities regulated by the ITAR and EAR dual-use export controls.
Obtained clearance for the acquisition of an advanced semiconductor materials manufacturer by Taiwanese investors.
Developed and implemented CFIUS due diligence policies and procedures for the strategic investment arm of several Japanese multinational conglomerates and investment funds.

Customs and Trade

Successfully obtained permanent exemptions from Section 301 tariffs for consumer electronics, chemicals, and automotive-related imports from China.
Successful resolution of an audit by US Customs and Border Protection related to the classification and valuation of imports of chemical and functional food imports from China, Korea, and Japan.
Obtained release for entry into the United States of automotive parts and components alleged to contain products of forced labor.
Advised an oil and gas producer and exporter on the establishment of a US Foreign Trade Zone for its liquified natural gas production facilities.
Advised a US importer of chemical products from Japan on the duty-free provisions of the US-Japan Trade Agreement.
Successfully resolved a prior disclosure related to assists and transfer pricing adjustments to the value of imports of medical equipment and advanced imaging products.
