Acting for the court appointed receiver of the LM First Mortgage Income Fund in Supreme Court of Queensland proceedings, commenced against the former audit firm and auditors of the Fund. Laura's involvement included assisting counsel with the preparation of the Plaintiff's Reply to the Defendants' Defence; locating, engaging, and briefing a range of expert witnesses for the provision of expert evidence; and reviewing and categorising an extremely large amount of disclosure material using the Relativity eDiscovery platform.
Acting for several major Australian banks in recovery actions, including the enforcement of mortgages and other securities, insolvency, secured and unsecured asset recovery and loss minimisation (including farm debt mediation).
Successfully acting and appearing on behalf of a bank in three separate applications to the Federal Court pursuant to section 133(9) of the Bankruptcy Act 1966 (Cth), for real property to be vested in the bank for the purposes of exercising its power of sale under the Land Title Act 1994 (Qld), the Property Law Act 1974 (Qld) and several mortgages.
Conducting a large scale investigation on behalf of a major international foreign exchange client in order to identify potential breaches of relevant financial services legislation and the organisation's Australian Financial Services Licence. The investigation involved a review of significant data using Ringtail eDiscovery software, and the provision of advice on regulatory issues.
