Dylan A. Van Sky

Dylan Van Sky is admitted to practice in Illinois. He is not yet admitted in Pennsylvania.

Dylan Van Sky is an associate and a member of the Tax practice group, with a focus on estate and tax planning. Dylan has experience drafting fundamental estate planning documents, including wills, revocable trust agreements, and powers of attorney, and facilitating gift and estate tax planning by creating and administering tax efficient vehicles, including dynasty trusts, Crummey trusts, GRATs, CLATs, family limited partnerships, LLCs, and private foundations. Dylan regularly coordinates with his clients’ other advisors, including family office representatives, accountants, and financial advisors, to ensure his clients meet their personal, business, and financial goals in a tax-efficient manner.  As a subset of his practice, Dylan has extensive experience servicing clients in the financial sector, including private equity fund general partners and banking executives.

Prior to joining the firm, Dylan worked as an associate attorney at a boutique estate and tax planning firm in Chicago’s southwest suburbs, where he advised ultra-high net worth individuals and families on estate planning and transfer tax strategies, regularly coordinating with family offices and other trusted advisors. While in law school, Dylan served as an intern for the Honorable J. Nicholas Ranjan of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, as a specialty tax intern for a global accounting firm, and as a summer associate in a global law firm’s Pittsburgh office. 

Dylan received the 2024 Edward J. Kelly Prize in Elder Law, awarded for his scholarly work analyzing recent Supreme Court precedent on the transfer tax implications of business succession planning.
