Declan C. Gallivan

Declan Gallivan is a senior associate in the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. As a solicitor-advocate, with Higher Rights of Audience, he is qualified to act as a civil advocate in higher courts in England and Wales.

Declan is an experienced disputes lawyer with a varied commercial practice, advising clients across a broad range of sectors including life sciences, technology, media, construction and energy. Most of Declan’s cases are complex, high-value and multi-jurisdictional in nature.

Declan has a particularly strong international commercial arbitration practice, with experience under the rules of the major arbitral institutions (most commonly the LCIA and ICC). Declan has been listed as a “key lawyer” by The Legal 500 for international arbitration.

In terms of litigation, Declan has significant experience before the English High Court, including one of the most high-profile board room disputes of the last decade and arbitration-related litigation. Declan also has experience before the English Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Declan spends a lot of time advising clients on how to mitigate risk, and avoid or prepare for litigation or arbitration.

Beyond his commercial practice, Declan is a strong supporter of pro-bono work and has recently carried work out for Kids in Need of Defence, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and for numerous clients at the South West London Law Centres.

Declan obtained a first-class law degree (LLB) from the University of Bristol. He completed his training contract at K&L Gates during which he gained experience in the competition and EU regulatory, commercial disputes, real estate and investigations, enforcement and white collar practices.

Prior to joining the firm, Declan was an intern at a Public Defender's Office in South Florida working on death penalty cases. In addition, he was a paralegal in the litigation department of a London law firm.
