David B. Caughran

David Caughran is an associate in the Corporate/Mergers and Acquisitions practice group at the firm’s Charleston office. His practice is focused on transactional corporate matters including counseling both publicly- and privately-held entities in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other negotiated transactions. David also has experience assisting companies locating or expanding in South Carolina with economic incentive matters including fee in lieu of tax agreements, special source revenue credit arrangements, job development credits, job tax credits, and abandoned building and textile revitalization credits.

Prior to joining the firm, David was an associate at a regional law firm where he was a member of the public finance and economic development practice groups. In law school, David interned for the Honorable J. Michelle Childs at the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, where he assisted with the planning and execution of the Federal Judges Association's 9th Quadrennial Conference.

Prior to law school, David worked at a lobbying firm and nonprofit handling government affairs and policy advocacy regarding energy and environmental issues for a diverse portfolio of private and public sector clients. Prior to that, he worked on the staff of a member of the U.S. House of Representatives on Capitol Hill.
