Daniela is a Venezuelan lawyer with over 20 years of experience in IP. Her practice focuses on all aspects of domestic and international intellectual property strategizing, procurement, management, and enforcement, including trademark clearance, prosecution, global enforcement, social media infringement, and worldwide portfolio management. Daniela also has vast experience in transactional work involving trademark licenses, coexistence agreements, IP contracts, IP due diligence, and audits.
Throughout her career, Daniela has developed and implemented strategies for the protection and management of global intellectual property portfolios across a wide variety of industries for foreign and domestic clients, including Fortune 10, 50, and 100 companies, individuals, and startups, on the protection of their intellectual property rights, tailoring the portfolio management, trademark prosecution, enforcement, and anti-counterfeiting strategies to the needs of each specific client.
Before joining K&L Gates, Daniela was senior associate at one of the most important IP firms in Venezuela where she assisted clients in securing trademark and copyright registrations, and helped strategize on how to protect, maintain, and enforce the value of intellectual property rights. Later she worked for a law firm in Spain and interned with the EU IP Helpdesk, where she supported European SMEs and research teams involved in cross-border business and EU-funded research activities manage, disseminate, and valorize their IP by advising and informational material. In the US, Daniela gained in-house experience as in-house counsel at a global footwear holding company owner of seven footwear and accessories’ brands, where she managed the domain, trademark, and copyright portfolios in more than 150 countries, assisted the international business team expand to Africa and Latin America, and helped draft several franchise agreements in the Middle East. After, Daniela led the trademark prosecution team at an IP boutique specialized in IP prosecution and enforcement in Latin America, the Caribbean, and South Pacific.
