Our hedge fund practice represents sponsors of and investors in United States and non-United States hedge funds that invest in securities, futures contracts, options, forwards, swaps, and other derivative instruments, bank loans, direct investments in other private funds, and private fund interests purchased in secondary market transactions. We have organized hedge funds globally, including in major hedge fund jurisdictions such as Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey, Luxembourg, Mauritius, and Panama.
We advise sponsors ranging from emerging managers to global institutional managers. Our lawyers cover the life cycle of fund formation, from structuring the management company, general partner, and the fund to operational issues, winding-up, and dissolution. We advise on portfolio investments and divestitures as well as counseling on day-to-day legal, regulatory matters, and business issues, such as identifying current market and best practices, evaluating fee and distribution structures, evaluating agreements with service providers, and operational matters.
