Mr. Potter is a partner in the Boston office. He concentrates his practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation, business torts, securities enforcement, products liability, and lender liability.  He has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in large, commercial disputes, and has represented Fortune 500 companies, state and federal banks, pharmaceutical companies, and financial institutions.  Mr. Potter practices in both state and federal courts and represents clients in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration.  He also has extensive experience in appellate practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, and Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

Professional Background

Mr. Potter joined K&L Gates as an associate in September 2005 after completing his legal education at Boston College Law School.  In March 2014, Mr. Potter was promoted to partner.

  • Obtained complete summary judgment on behalf of a national retail chain, disposing of all claims brought by the retailer's former delivery personnel.
  • Represented multiple financial firms in connection with SEC investigations and subpoenas.
  • Represented national and local banks in connection with contract claims, lender liability claims and pursued claims against borrowers on multi-million dollar defaults.
