Professional Background

Mr. Fox joined K&L Gates in March 2012. Between 2008 and 2012, Mr. Fox was a solicitor in the litigation and arbitration group of an international law firm based in London. He completed his training contract in 2008 at a London firm focusing on civil litigation and financial regulatory work. Prior to his training contract, he worked as a paralegal in the Enforcement Division of the Financial Services Authority (now the Financial Conduct Authority).

  • Lead associate on a US$20 million dispute in relation to an ISDA swap contract. The case was won in the Court of Appeal
  • Advised a collateral manager regarding potential claims against it by Lehman Brothers
  • Advised a collateral manager regarding the rightful beneficial ownership of dividend payments and potential Part 8 proceeding

International Arbitration and Bilateral Investment Treaties

  • Advised mining investment company on potential expropriation and discrimination claims under a bilateral investment treaty
  • Lead associate on arbitration under UNCITRAL Rules concerning the interpretation of a contract for the hire of an offshore drilling rig. Obtained award in client’s favour
  •  Lead associate on management dispute against former managers under LMAA rules. The case included elements of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty and resulted in favourable settlement
