Tara Pehush is a partner in the firm’s New York office. She focuses her practice on litigation matters, including commercial, toxic tort, products liability, and insurance. She has done extensive work briefing both appeals and lower court motions on behalf of the firm's toxic tort clients, and has been involved with all phases of the pre-trial and trial processes as well, appearing as trial counsel for cases in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Delaware, Ohio, and Missouri. Ms. Pehush has also represented manufacturers and sellers of commercial equipment and employers in catastrophic injury and fatality cases.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Ms. Pehush practiced as an associate at a New Jersey law firm. She was a clerk to the Honorable Joseph J. Riva of the Superior Court of New Jersey.

Ms. Pehush currently serves on the New York office’s Associate Liaison Committee. She also co-chairs the office’s annual Global Day of Service, coordinating the office’s effort to give back to the community each year.
Ms. Pehush has represented a variety of manufacturers and vessel owners in claims related to exposures to hazardous substances and/or catastrophic injuries, including in the following matters:

  • Represented industrial heating manufacturer in personal injury claims, including drafting and arguing successful summary judgment motion based on failure to establish causation.
  • Represented marine construction and dredging company in multimillion dollar Jones Act and unseaworthiness claims, including acting as trial counsel.
  • Represented leading industrial equipment manufacturer, including achieving dismissals and favorable resolutions and acting as trial counsel in several state and federal jurisdictions.
  • Represented commercial bakery equipment manufacturer in personal injury claims.
  • Represented industrial automation company in personal injury claims, including drafting and arguing successful summary judgment motions.

Ms. Pehush has also represented clients pro bono, including domestic abuse victims in divorce proceedings and minor children seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status in the United States.
