Launching as a new private fund investment manager can be among the most exciting and rewarding ventures, even in today's competitive and demanding investing environment. This year’s New Manager Forum will take a focused approach to the opportunities and challenges of launching a new fund, and will provide you with a unique opportunity to hear and speak directly with experts in a variety of investment industry specialties. In addition to a hands-on workshop for all new managers, our forum this year will feature panels addressing women and minority managers. Despite recent inroads, many new entrants struggle to access capital and survive, as women and minority managers face unique challenges. This discussion will feature emerging managers, public and private institutional investors and consultants, and will delve into the challenges of emerging managers and many MWBE programs. The first panel of managers will discuss the challenges and successes and relate the lessons learned in building their private fund business. This will be followed by a panel of institutional investors who will share valuable insights on effective capital raising across various investor groups and practical survival tips for emerging managers. A pre-event workshop, focusing on legal and compliance start up tips for all new managers, regardless of MWBE status, will also be offered to provide attendees with a more in-depth view on operational requirements.
