Mr. Adams represented corporations involved in products liability matters, including manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and tobacco products. Specific experience includes aviation defense involving scores of claims by passengers and crew, including death claims. He served as liaison counsel for plaintiffs in a large airline accident. The case was consolidated from 10 to 12 jurisdictions for discovery purposes in New Hampshire. Mr. Adams represented Squibb in DES litigation. Initially this was a class action of about 3,800 plaintiffs which a federal judge certified, and after certain rulings by the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts decertified. He defended Liggett in several claims alleging lung cancer and other injuries. He was active in defense of medical device manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies. He also is experienced in business litigation.

Professional Background

Prior to joining the firm he had served as the chief of the antitrust division of the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office and as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In 1973 the Governor of the Commonwealth appointed him a justice of the Superior Court. After nine years on the State's highest trial court, Mr. Adams returned to the firm.
