Mr. Savage has extensive experience in property law and acts for a broad range of clients including vendors and purchasers, landlords and tenants and government agencies. He also has strong experience in the acquisition and disposal of property assets, commercial, industrial and retail leasing and property due diligence.

Mr. Savage frequently advises on easements, covenants and other rights and restrictions affecting property assets. He has a particular focus on land contamination and remediation.

Mr. Savage's experience enables him to help guide and assist clients through all transaction phases from conception to completion and he is firmly focused on providing clients with effective and practical solutions.

Professional Background

Prior to joining KL Gates in January 2013, Mr. Savage worked at a mid tier Australian law firm. Mr. Savage held a senior property position in the Australian Government Solicitors office from 1988 to 1998 and during that period was responsible for a number of high profile property transactions including the sale of several major Commonwealth property assets.

    • providing advice in relation to proposed transactions with Aboriginal Land Councils, the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW) and the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth)

  • Acting for Delta Electricity on:
    • property issues associated with the privatisation of electricity assets
    • the relocation of its Sydney head office
    • the acquisition of land and easements for the Western Rail Coal Unloader
    • the documentation of easement arrangements with TransGrid in relation to Delta Electricity's Central Coast operations.
  • Advising Caltex Australia Petroleum on a wide range of property matters including leases of service station sites, acquisition and disposal of property, development agreements, contamination and site remediation, and advising on land title issues.
  • Acting for Jemena Gas Management in relation to the relocation of gas pipelines, and associated property and easement issues.
  • Acting for Fuchs Lubricants in relation to a proposed divestment of one of its large industrial sites including providing advice with respect to compliance issues, environmental legislation and site remediation including engaging and liaising with environmental consultants and an accredited site auditor.
  • Acting for Sydney Fish Market Pty Ltd on retail and commercial leases at Sydney Fish Market’s Pyrmont site, tenancy disputes, and the proposed redevelopment of the Sydney Fish Market site.
  • Acting for Americold on the restructure of its Australian property assets.
  • Acting for a foreign company in relation to the acquisition of industrial assets in Sydney for the sale of building products including carrying out property and title due diligence, advising on and obtaining FIRB approval and negotiation and completion of the contract for sale.
  • Acting for an aged care provider in relation to the acquisition of a greenfield development site in Sydney and development agreement for a new aged care facility.
