Robert A. Wittie

Bob Wittie is a senior of counsel to the firm and is a former chair of the firm’s legal opinions committee. As a member of the firm’s  finance and investment management practices, he has concentrated on securities-based financial transactions and the regulation of investment companies and other financial institutions. He has represented financial services clients in connection with a wide range of matters, including secured credit, swaps, repurchase agreements and other derivatives transactions, securities lending, regulatory compliance, documentation issues, electronic commerce, and legislative matters.

Bob is a fellow and former regent of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and a member of the ABA and TriBar opinion committees. He has written and lectured extensively on a variety of legal topics and has served as an advisor to the Uniform Law Commission’s special drafting committees for revisions to Article 8 (Investment Securities) and Article 9 (Secured Transactions) of the Uniform Commercial Code, the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, and several other Uniform State Laws. He also actively participated in the development of the federal E-SIGN legislation. He previously served as chair of the UCC-Investment Securities Subcommittee of the American Bar Association's Business Section, and he remains active on that and other ABA committees.
