Richard is a partner in K&L Gates’ Real Estate practice group. He has wide experience in all aspects of property law from profit participation provisions in joint venture agreements to planning appeals and from ground rents to grouse moors. He focuses his practice on commercial property law advising all sides of the property world, including commercial occupiers, institutions, landowners, developers, and local authorities.

In addition, he is particularly experienced in acting in relation to property investment and development funding, landlord and tenant, and substantial head office relocations. He has also appeared as a legal assessor on contentious rent reviews.

Professional Background

Richard was admitted as a lawyer in 1976. He joined the firm in 1983 and became a partner in 1985.

  • He has also written on some of the implications of the Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1989 and provided work for Precedents for the Conveyancer on the subject of uninsured risk in the context of English real estate leases.

  • Acting for private investors on the acquisition of the site of the proposed Shard of Glass
