Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in Latin America: Effective Compliance and Risk Mitigation

6 December 2012

With an increased focus on FCPA enforcement by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as last year’s enactment of the UK Bribery Act, corporations are increasingly required to conduct anti-bribery due diligence and investigations across the globe.

On December 6, 2012, K&L Gates hosted a panel addressing the following topics:

  • What risk factors make companies conducting business in Latin America more vulnerable to possible FCPA violations?
  • What types of conduct have triggered SEC and DOJ investigations into potential FCPA violations?
  • What lessons can be learned from recent SEC and DOJ enforcement efforts aimed at companies doing business in Latin American countries?
  • What are the best practices to develop and implement effective anti-corruption compliance programs and due diligence efforts?
