Mr. Campbell has been involved in finance transactions (including debt capital markets, securitisations and syndicated lending) in Asia for many years as well as leading teams which were involved in some of the first securitisations in Korea, Hong Kong, the PRC, Indonesia and Thailand. Mr. Campbell represents some of the most prominent Asian arrangers and issuers on airline, shipping and consumer receivables, as well as debt capital markets such as RMB bonds.

Mr. Campbell is recognised as one of Asia's leading securitisation and structured finance lawyers and he is ranked in IFLR 1000, Chambers Asia-Pacific, Chambers Global and The Legal 500 Asia Pacific for structured finance and securitisation. He has won several awards for his transactions, including Dynasty Assets, Indocoal and Korean Air. Mr. Campbell has advised on six of Korean Air's airline receivables securitisations to date.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Campbell was a partner in the Hong Kong office of another U.S. law firm and was co-head of their Asia Debt Capital Markets practice.

  • Represented the Arranger and the Note Trustee (and related roles) in the issuance by an Irish SPV of US$71,550,000 Fixed Rate Notes backed by a securitisation of licensing fees.
  • Represented PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk in U.S. dollar conventional and Islamic term facilities arranged by Standard Chartered Bank and Emirates NBD Capital Limited.
  • Represented PT J Resources Nusantara in US$275,000,000 secured facilities arranged by five, primarily Indonesian, banks.
  • Represented ICBC in €150,000,000 acquisition finance facilities to a European borrower.
  • Represented the arranger in an RMB bond for a PRC financial services company.
  • Represented Standard Chartered Bank as arranger and lead manager in a US$300 million Secured Floating Rate Notes U.S. dollar passenger ticket receivables securitisation for Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd..
  • Represented Daiwa Securities Capital Markets Co. Ltd., Seoul Branch and The Korea Development Bank as joint arrangers, and Deutsche Bank as Note Trustee (and related roles) in the ¥12 billion (US$110 million) securitization of Korean Air’s receivables arising from cargo transportation on routes between Japan and Korea.
  • Represented China Eastern Airlines on its RMB2.5 billion (US$390 million) 'Dim Sum Bond' offering.
  • Represented Asia Cement (China) Holdings Corporation on its RMB586 million (US$91 million) 'Dim Sum Bond' offering.
  • Represented The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited as sole arranger in the ¥40 billion (US$481 million) securitisation of Korean Air's ticket sales on routes between Japan and Korea.
  • Represented Deutsche Bank as Arranger in a ¥8.5 billion Secured Floating Rate Loan airline ticket receivables securitisation for Asiana Airlines, Inc..
  • Represented one of the largest Korean credit card issuers in the US$300 million securitisation of a portfolio of Korean Won credit card receivables.
  • Represented a Korean bank as guarantor of a structured note issue.
  • Represented a rating agency in a future receivables securitisation.
  • Advising on the Dynasty Assets secured loan and subsequent CMBS transaction (the first CMBS securitising loans secured on PRC property).
  • Advised on the first offshore receivables securitisation for a PRC company.
