Mr. Heine’s primary practice is focused on the area of alternative investment, including private equity funds, venture funds, hedge funds and strategic partnerships. He represents a variety of large public institutions, private investment programs and other limited partners in connection with their alternative investment portfolios. Mr. Heine has represented investors in more than 200 funds over the past five years, including venture capital funds, leveraged buyout funds, distressed debt funds, and other funds. Additional areas of Mr. Heine’s practice include fund formation, mergers and acquisitions, taxation and securities regulation.
Establishment of a series of strategic investment partnerships on behalf of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (“CalPERS”) in a variety of spaces, including emerging markets, clean energy and technology and healthcare.
Establishment of Pivotal Investment Partners I, L.P., a locally based private equity fund in the clean energy and technology space.
Establishment of Star Lake Fund I, LLC, a joint venture real estate investment fund between the New York State Retirement Fund and JP Morgan.
