Ms Rumble's experience covers the full range of advisory and litigation aspects of employment and safety law for both private sector and public sector clients. She advises clients on employment contracts, disciplinary procedures, termination of employment, workplace policies, compliance with modern awards and other industrial instruments. Ms Rumble also provides strategic advice on methods of engaging staff, restructures and transfer of business issues and restraints of trade.

Ms Rumble has conducted a range of workplace investigations arising from allegations of inappropriate workplace conduct such as sexual harassment, discrimination and bullying.

Ms Rumble regularly acts for clients in litigious matters including unfair dismissal claims, general protections claims, discrimination claims and industrial disputes in both State and Federal jurisdictions.

Ms Rumble's safety experience ranges from advising on regulatory compliance including the personal obligations of duty holders to defending prosecutions.

Ms Rumble regularly delivers workplace training on topics such as workplace investigations, social media as relevant to the workplace and employer obligations in relation to anti-discrimination, harassment, bullying and work health and safety.

Professional Background

Ms Rumble has more than 10 years' experience practising employment law. Before joining the firm, Ms Rumble was a senior associate in the workplace relations team of a boutique firm, and prior to that worked for an Australian commercial law firm.

Ms Rumble's experience also includes secondments as legal counsel in the employee relations team of a large retail bank and as senior industrial officer in the industrial relations department of a state public sector organisation.

Speaking Engagements

Ms Rumble has delivered a number of presentations to clients and practitioners on topics including workplace investigations, "adverse action" and the general protections provisions in the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), social media and employment issues and workplace health and safety legislation.
  • Successfully defended an unfair dismissal claim brought by an employee who breached a drug and alcohol policy.
  • Successfully defended applications brought by former employees alleging unlawful stand down periods seeking monetary orders by having all applications dismissed for want of jurisdiction.
  • Defended a health and safety prosecution by negotiating Enforceable Undertakings as an alternative to a prosecution. 
  • Successfully defended a discrimination and breach of contract claim in the Federal Court of Australia. The application was dismissed and the client obtained a costs order on an indemnity basis.
