K&L Gates Adds Intellectual Property, International Trade Partner to Expanding Washington, D.C., Office
Washington, D.C. - The Washington, D.C., office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Tyler Hong Shik Won as a partner in its intellectual property and international trade practices. He joins K&L Gates from Steptoe & Johnson LLP.
With legal experience in both the United States and Seoul, Korea, Won advises major international conglomerates on intellectual property, international trade, and antitrust matters. Prior to his legal practice, Won served in the Korean Special Forces and as a consultant with Deloitte Anjin LLC in Seoul, where he provided financial advisory services in the real estate development and investment ventures group.
David Tang, K&L Gates’ managing partner, Asia, commented: “Korean companies play an ever-increasing role in the global economy and have developed valuable intellectual property assets, from the entertainment and technology sectors to consumer products. Tyler’s arrival boosts our capabilities to provide legal support to those Korean companies globally and establishes a critical link from Asia to Washington, D.C.”
Won’s arrival follows a number of other lawyer hires in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office this year, including public policy and law partner Amanda Makki, consumer financial services partner John ReVeal, government enforcement partner Michael T. Dyson, energy partner Elias B. Hinckley and counsel James R. Wrathall, tax-exempt organizations of counsel Barry J. Hart, and public policy and law of counsel Scott Nelson. Won’s practice is limited to matters and proceedings before federal courts and agencies.
“We are excited to welcome Tyler to our thriving office,” said David T. Case, administrative partner of K&L Gates’ Washington, D.C., office. “His broad experience, especially of a cross-border nature, will be extremely valuable to our clients as they seek to build and protect their intellectual property assets.”
