Kelly Flanigan is an associate in the firm’s Pittsburgh office. She focuses her practice on general commercial litigation matters as well as government enforcement matters, with a particular emphasis on white-collar criminal defense. She has assisted clients in responding to government subpoenas and with internal investigations on a variety of topics.

Pro Bono

Ms. Flanigan also maintains an active pro bono practice. Specifically, she has represented clients seeking final Protection From Abuse (“PFA”) orders and expungement of juvenile criminal records. Ms. Flanigan represents veterans seeking to appeal disability rulings for PTSD and other service-related injuries. Ms. Flanigan served as part of a jury trial team which litigated a 1983 prisoner’s rights excessive force case. In addition, she assists in the representation of and resentencing efforts for individuals sentenced to life without parole as juveniles (“JLWOP”).

Professional Background

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Flanigan was a summer associate in the firm’s Pittsburgh office in 2015. During law school, she was an in-house corporate legal extern for Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Winter 2015, and an intern in The Ohio State University Office of Athletic Compliance in Spring 2016. Ms. Flanigan was a judicial extern for Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor of the Ohio Supreme Court in 2014, and was a summer law clerk at Alcoa, Inc. in 2014. She was a Research Assistant at the Moritz College of Law performing health law and bioethics research for Professor Efthimios Parasidis. In addition, Ms. Flanigan was President of the Moritz Health Law Society and a three-year member of the Moot Court Governing Board.

During her time at Pitt, she served as a four-year sports staff writer at The Pitt News and interned for a federal Congressman in Pennsylvania’s Eighteenth District.
