Julie Bellville concentrates her practice in trademark and copyright clearance, registration, protection, enforcement and counseling; social media, domain names, and other Web-related issues; licensing and transactional work.
Ms. Bellville represents clients ranging from multinational companies to nonprofit organizations in a variety of industries, including marketing, media, food and beverage, consumer products, and entertainment. She has experience negotiating and drafting agreements, including sponsorship agreements, work-made-for-hire employee contracts, waiver-and-release forms, and intellectual property-related agreements; licensing agreements, authorship/contributor agreements, and co-existence agreements.
Ms. Bellville represents clients in trademark and copyright enforcement matters conducting investigations, preparing cease and desist letters, handling infringement matters on social media platforms, and initiating and defending opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She also conducts IP compliance reviews for labels and advertisements and provides due diligence research and analysis for portfolio acquisitions.
Prior to her legal career, Ms. Bellville was in a fellowship in the Ohio Legislative Service Commission, where she worked on four committees and assisted in policy drafting for the Ohio Senate Majority Caucus. Afterwards, she worked full-time as a Legislative Aide for a representative in the Ohio House.
Ms. Bellville attended Northwestern University School of Law and graduated cum laude with honors in senior research. She focused on intellectual property and alternative dispute resolution. She became a court-certified mediator and has mediated over 40 disputes through the Major Case Court-Annexed Civil Mediation Program.
