Mr. Jung is a PTO-registered, Chicago-based associate focusing on patent-related matters in materials science, chemical technologies, medical devices, and nanotechnology. He handles patent preparation and prosecution, renders patentability and infringement opinions, and handles the negotiation and structuring of licensing and sales of patent assets.
Mr. Jung’s experience spans a number of diverse technological arts. He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications for large corporate clients in the food science, consumer electronics, healthcare, water purification, and consumer products industries.
Mr. Jung earned a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Northwestern University. He received his undergraduate degree in metallurgical engineering from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea. He is named an inventor on two U.S. patents - Martensitic Stainless Steel Strengthened by Ni3Ti -Phase Precipitation, U.S. Patent No. 7,879,159; and Coherent Nanodispersion-Strengthened Shape-Memory Alloys, U.S. Patent No. 7,316,753.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Jung was an associate at another law firm in Chicago where, among other things, he prepared and prosecuted utility and design patent applications. He also has extensive experience in chemical technologies, medical devices, and nanotechnology. Before his career in law, Mr. Jung held several positions at QuesTek Innovations LLC, a high-tech offshoot of Northwestern. As a Materials Design Engineer, he designed and developed unique materials, such as shape-memory alloys, steels, aluminum-based alloys, and nickel-based alloys, for aerospace, military, petrochemical, and consumer-based applications.
