Professional Background

Dr. Zhou is currently practicing the patent law in the fields of life science, pharmaceuticals, chemistry and technology. Her main focus includes patent application drafting and prosecution, conducting prior art search, patentability evaluation and freedom-to-operate analyses. Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Zhou served as a medicinal chemist and drug discovery researcher for several biotech and pharmaceutical companies for over 10 years. In this role, she assisted outside patent attorneys in drafting and prosecuting over 30 patent applications for inventions serving as a co-inventor. Applications included inventions dealing with medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, drug discovery, polymer chemistry, surface chemistry, and combinatorial chemistry.

Dr. Zhou also had various management roles such as Director of Chemistry Department, Project Leader of a 30+ member interdisciplinary drug discovery team, and was a lead medicinal chemist on several drug discovery programs, which resulted in clinical development candidates.

Dr. Zhou has published 42 peer reviewed papers in scientific journals.
