Mr. Hawk is a civil litigator whose practice is concentrated in a number of different areas, including oil and gas litigation, product liability litigation, and complex commercial litigation. He has represented corporations and individuals in federal and state courts throughout the country, including courts in California, Indiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, West Virginia and Washington. He has broad litigation experience in all aspects of discovery, trial preparation and trial, and has handled or assisted numerous arguments, hearings, mediations, depositions, non-jury and jury trials, and appeals.

  • Defended oil and gas production companies in lease dispute litigation, including class action lawsuits in federal and state court
  • Defended oil and gas production companies in alleged groundwater contamination litigation
  • Obtained dismissals upon motions to dismiss for oil and gas production company in multiple lease dispute lawsuits

Product Liability
  • Defended manufacturers in product liability actions involving diverse range of products, including metal slitting and processing equipment, child car seats, forklifts, welding rods, fire extinguishers, heating equipment and controllers, and electrical switches
  • Obtained unanimous defense jury verdict for steel coil processing equipment manufacturer in product liability case stemming from accident in which operator’s left hand was crushed by a component of steel coil slitting line
  • Obtained unanimous defense jury verdict for child car seat designer in product liability case involving four-year-old plaintiff
  • Obtained complete defense jury verdict for forklift manufacturer in wrongful death and product liability case, and obtained affirmance of judgment on appeal 
  • Obtained dismissal upon preliminary objections for major specialty metals producer in wrongful death case
  • Obtained summary judgment for heating equipment manufacturer in product liability case
  • Obtained dismissals upon motion to dismiss and motion for summary judgment in separate product liability actions for metal slitting and processing equipment manufacturer

Complex Commercial Litigation
  • Obtained jury verdict awarding damages of $59.6 million for aluminum producer in breach of implied warranty case
