Mr. Arnott is a corporate and commercial lawyer. He advises on a broad range of information technology transactions and has particular experience advising organisations on complex outsourcing and systems integration projects.

Mr. Arnott also advises on regulatory issues in the telecommunications sector and a range of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters. He has particular experience advising content rights holders (including large sporting codes) on copyright and broadcasting issues and advising on general brand protection matters.

Mr. Arnott acts for major Australian and multinational IT vendors and a broad range of organisations in the energy and resources, telecommunications and sporting industries.

  • Advising an Australian energy retailer on a number of large transactions, including the outsourcing of its infrastructure and telecommunications services including the RFP process, drafting and assisting the negotiation of contractual documentation and providing advice in relation to the project.
  • Advising an Australian energy retailer on a number of BPO projects, including the restructuring of its existing BPO arrangements and working closely with the business to develop alternative service level frameworks.
  • Advising a global tier one technology vendor on the outsourcing agreement in respect of the core banking system for one of the top four Australian banks including negotiating the master agreement and the various schedules.
  • Advising SKM and Hydro Tasmania in relation to the sourcing of and integration of organisation-wide Enterprise Resource Planning systems, including assisting in the development of request for proposal documentation for the software procurement and drafting the contractual documentation for system integrator services.
  • Advising a global tier one technology vendor on its bid for the development and support of a national system for an Australian statutory body.
  • Working closely with in-house marketing team of an Australian telecommunications company in developing and rolling out an advertising compliance program and subsequently reviewing and providing pre-publication advice in relation to advertising material on an ongoing basis.
  • Advising Local Directories on its compliance with elements of the telecommunications regulatory framework, including preparing submissions to various government departments and bodies.
  • Advising a number of Australia's largest sporting codes on the impact of exceptions to infringement under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) in the context of distribution of content via new media channels.
  • Advising Places Victoria in relation to its fibre optic telecommunications networks, including drafting and analysing key contractual arrangements for the development and support of the network, and the negotiation of these arrangements with suppliers.
