Jake Morrison

Jake Morrison is a litigator who concentrates his practice on commercial litigation and toxic torts. Mr. Morrison has assisted in the representation of clients in various state and federal courts. His litigation experience includes taking depositions of various expert witnesses, drafting substantive motions, and conducting complex legal and factual research. Additionally, Mr. Morrison has advised clients on compliance with both FCC and NHTSA regulations.

Mr. Morrison also maintains an active pro bono practice. Specifically, he has represented clients seeking final Protection From Abuse (“PFA”) orders and expungement of juvenile criminal records.

Complex Commercial Litigation

  • Assist in representation of multinational corporation in lawsuit to recover damages for breach of contract, fraudulent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment.
  • Assist in representation of medical provider in lawsuit against large insurance company to recover damages for breach of an insurance contract.
  • Provide advice to manufacturer on viability of potential claim for tortious interference with contractual relations.

Toxic Tort

  • Take deposition of expert medical doctors offering specific causation testimony in toxic tort litigation.
  • Take deposition of expert industrial hygienists offering testimony in toxic tort litigation.
  • Draft motion to dismiss plaintiff’s claim in federal court for lack of personal jurisdiction.
  • Draft opposition to plaintiff’s motion to reconsider order excluding expert causation testimony in federal court.

Products Liability/Regulatory Compliance

  • Provide advice to start-up consumer technology company on compliance with NHTSA regulations.
  • Provide advice to manufacturer on compliance with FCC signal jamming regulations.

Professional Background

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Morrison was a legal intern for the Allegheny County Public Defender’s Office. Additionally, Mr. Morrison was a summer associate in the firm’s Pittsburgh office in 2015. He previously worked as a legislative intern for the Offices of Virginia state senators Chap Petersen in 2012 and Toddy Puller in 2013.
