Gordie Verhovek is an associate in the Seattle office of K&L Gates. He focuses his practice on various aspects of commercial real estate, including acquisitions and sales, real estate financing and loans, commercial leasing, and real estate development. Mr. Verhovek’s experience includes issues related to commercial mortgages and financing, hotels, farmland, shopping centers, and other commercial mixed-use properties.
Mr. Verhovek also has experience in addressing regulatory issues affecting the food industry, and advises clients on regulatory matters relating to the processing, manufacturing, and distribution of food products. This experience includes assistance with state, county, and local permitting requirements and product-specific restrictions for facilities storing and distributing shelf-stable, refrigerated, and frozen foods at retail.
In addition, Mr. Verhovek advises employers on a wide range of labor and employment issues, including hiring, discipline, termination, discrimination, harassment, noncompetition, labor relations, wage and hour matters, payroll deductions, and employment transitions necessitated by mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Verhovek was previously a judicial extern to the Honorable William H. Orrick of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. In this role, he conducted legal research, drafted judicial orders, and prepared bench memoranda on a variety of ongoing civil cases. During law school, he worked with the East Bay Community Law Center’s Neighborhood Justice Clinic, where he provided direct legal services to low-income clients on a variety of consumer law issues. He was a K&L Gates summer associate in 2013.
