Ewelina Wętrys is an associate in the Warsaw office of K&L Gates and a member of the dispute resolution department. She focuses on litigation and arbitration regarding diverse civil and commercial disputes, including investment arbitration disputes. Ms. Wętrys advises and represents local and foreign clients from a variety of industries, with particular focus on oil and gas, energy, telecommunication, and construction. A significant part of her practice is also devoted to the energy and infrastructure sector.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Ewelina Wętrys practiced at the dispute resolution department of another leading law firm. Before that, she had gained experience in international arbitration and corporate law completing internships at international law firms in Warsaw and London as well as at the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) in Rome.

2014 – Second prize in the third edition of Lewiatan Arbitration Moot addressed to the trainees of the Polish advocates’ and legal advisors’ bars and organized by the Lewiatan Court of Arbitration and Young Arbitration Practitioners in Poland.

  • Member of a team advising Canadian investors in a dispute against a Central European state concerning a mining project.
  • Member of a team representing a Central European state in an ICSID(AF) investment dispute against U.S. investors related to fiscal measures.
  • Member of a team advising Polish investors in a dispute against a Central European state concerning a petrochemical project.

Commercial Arbitration

  • Representing a foreign supplier in the ICC arbitration proceedings concerning a dispute arising out of a contract for implementation of a modern system for production of highly complex-shaped castings.
  • Advising a foreign contractor from an oil and gas sector in the ICC arbitration proceedings concerning a dispute arising out of a contract for onshore drilling services.

Litigation

  • Member of a team representing an international consortium in a dispute regarding engineering services for the environmental sector.
  • Member of a team representing a foreign contractor from an oil and gas sector in a dispute regarding the settlement of a works contract.
