Dawn M. Lamparello concentrates her practice in environmental law, including related litigation and regulatory compliance work concerning various state and federal environmental statutes, including CERCLA and RCRA. Ms. Lamparello also advises clients on transactional matters, including environmental implications associated with corporate restructures and real estate transactions. Ms. Lamparello assists with serving as common counsel to over fifty companies participating in the Lower Passaic River Study Area Cooperating Parties Group, which is engaged with federal and state agencies in a CERCLA study of the Lower Passaic River in Northern New Jersey.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Ms. Lamparello served as a law clerk to the Honorable Patricia K. Costello, Assignment Judge, Superior Court of New Jersey.

Ms. Lamparello is active in K&L Gates’ recruiting committee, working with her partners to actively recruit summer associates and lateral candidates for the firm. As an associate, she was selected to participate in the firm’s Global Associate Symposiums in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In addition, Ms. Lamparello has handled a number of pro bono cases providing legal services to victims of domestic violence.

  • Manages the portfolio of nearly 100 Superfund sites across the country for major manufacturing client.
  • Advises clients in connection with CERCLA mega-sediment site studies and remedies.
  • Defended electric utility against CERCLA claim by property lessee adjacent to World Trade Center site. Plaintiff demanded reimbursement of cleanup costs for contamination by “World Trade Center Dust.” Successfully moved to dismiss plaintiff’s complaint.
  • Counsels global cosmetic manufacturer regarding retail waste management across the United States, including:
    • Compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), individual state laws and regulations, recycling provisions, and universal waste requirements
    • Development of retail waste management and reverse distribution programs to comply with evolving laws and regulations
  • Advised European cosmetics brand regarding RCRA and individual state requirements for various retail store openings in the United States.
  • Represents non-profit organization that promotes the use of sustainable practices during the investigation, construction, remediation, redevelopment, and monitoring of environmental cleanup sites.
  • Defended vehicle auction facility against NJ Environmental Rights Act claims.
