  • Leading expert evidence case in the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, Christophersen v. Allied Signal , upheld summary judgment for clients. Argued the case before the en banc court.
  • Litigation of $100 million claim involving international legal issues dealing with Colombian coal properties. Obtained a jury verdict after a four-week trial that was upheld on appeal.
  • Represented major energy company in alleged multi-million dollar environmental claims brought by dozens of families in Wise County, Texas. After a 12-week jury trial in one multi-family case, Hughes & Luce obtained a jury verdict of no liability. Other cases have been dismissed by summary judgment or on appeal.
  • Represented energy companies in claims of surface property damage or groundwater damage brought by landowners in Oklahoma and Texas
  • Counsel and evaluate regarding contractual and environmental issues in energy property purchase and sale
  • Represented major oil company in a breach of contract claim involving a joint venture for the development of an offshore block in Malaysia. Hughes & Luce obtained a dismissal of claims in federal and state courts.
  • Defended over one hundred cases involving alleged from aldehyde exposure. Defended numerous other toxic tort cases involving silica, hydrocarbons such as benzene, paint, insecticides, and asbestos.
  • Assisted in litigation involving billion-dollar trust claim, with significant issues under Texas trust laws

  • Restructuring of trust investments for large estate involving significant realty in Dallas County
