Ms. Danos is an intellectual property lawyer focusing on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights for clients including trade marks, copyright and designs.

She has a broad range of litigation experience representing clients in intellectual property disputes, including in proceedings concerning trade mark, design and copyright infringement, as well as misuse of confidential information, parallel importation, anti-counterfeiting, passing off and trade practices issues. She is also experienced in prosecuting and defending trade mark opposition proceedings before IP Australia and the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand.

Ms. Danos manages large scale intellectual property portfolios for Australian and international brands and acts for a range of clients in the automotive, fashion, cosmetic, manufacturing, food and beverage and agricultural industries. She assists clients in enhancing their intellectual property portfolios by providing strategic advice on the registrability and enforcement of intellectual property rights in Australia and overseas.

Ms. Danos is currently completing her Masters of Intellectual Property Law at the University of Melbourne.

Speaking Engagements

Ms. Danos presents seminars and training to clients on various intellectual property issues, including the protection and enforcement of trade mark rights.
  • Prosecuting, managing and enforcing the intellectual property portfolio of GM Holden Ltd. This involves protecting Holden's intellectual property rights in Australia, New Zealand and around the world. The portfolio consists of over 2,000 pending and registered trade marks and designs and requires active management.
  • Acting for GM Holden Ltd and General Motors LLC in anti-counterfeiting proceedings issued in the Federal Court of Australia against 25 respondents involving trade mark infringement, design infringement, misleading and deceptive conduct and passing off of Holden and HSV’s unique alloy wheel designs and successfully defending an appeal to the Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia.
  • Acting for G-Star in proceedings issued in the Federal Court of Australia and Federal Magistrates Court of Australia against retailers selling counterfeit and parallel imported goods.
  • Acting for Calibre in proceedings issued in the Federal Court of Australia for claims of design infringement of one of its registered Australian designs for a shirt.
  • Acting for corporate and individual respondents in a preliminary discovery application and subsequent proceedings involving allegations of breach of copyright and misuse of confidential information.
  • Acting for Caesarstone in various proceedings issued in the Federal Court of Australia for claims of trade mark infringement, misleading and deceptive conduct and passing off.
  • Acting for Thunder Road Brewery in over 60 trade mark opposition and non-use proceedings issued against CUB Pty Ltd (Foster's) brands before the Australian Trade Marks Office.
  • Acting for a range of clients in appeals to the Federal Court of Australia from trade mark opposition decisions of the Australian Trade Marks Office.
  • Acting for prominent fashion brands on a range of advisory and litigious matters regarding the enforcement of intellectual property rights, including Calibre, Hussy, Seafolly, UGG Australia, Camper, Draggin Jeans and Review Australia.
  • Establishing customs programs for clients with the Australian Customs Service and enforcing notices of objection by sending letters of demand to importers to ensure that imported counterfeit goods are forfeited by the importer and destroyed.
  • Acting for clients in various online conduct matters, including recovering domain names registered in bad faith and filing complaints with Google to cease the unauthorised use of registered trade marks as Google AdWords.
  • Prosecuting, managing and enforcing Australian and international intellectual property portfolios for a range of clients including Landmark Operations Ltd, Thunder Road Brewery, Flush Fitness, Calibre, MOR Cosmetics and Traffic Technologies.
