Briony Pollard is an associate in the firm’s London office where she is a member of the intellectual property practice group. She has experience in IP litigation and enforcement, portfolio management, licensing and commercial matters. She has worked with a range of clients in the pharmaceutical, tech, fashion, sport, media communications and banking industries and advised on trade mark, design, copyright, patent, advertising, data and passing off issues.

Professional Background

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Pollard was an associate solicitor in a London law firm for over two years and a trainee solicitor at the same law firm for two years. Ms. Pollard also completed secondments with the in-house legal department of a global media communications services company, and most recently, as legal counsel for a multinational video games and entertainment company.

  • Application for action by customs authorities on behalf of an IP collective rights management body, in relation to media technology and on behalf of a wine company in relation to plant variety rights.

  • Following a merger of two global cosmetics companies, the provision of advice in relation to ‘freedom to operate’ opinions given in respect of global patent portfolios and the different approaches to the retention of such opinions in the US and in Europe. 
  • Provision of advice on patent validity, infringement issues and patent exhaustion in relation to a number of patent combination claims. 
  • Provision of corporate support on an asset sale by way of due diligence of the sellers patent portfolio.
  • Commercial experience includes reviewing, drafting and negotiating agreements such as licensing, sponsorship, service, agency, settlement, confidentiality, manufacture and supply, collaboration and distribution agreements for clients including fashion houses, football clubs, computer hardware and software manufactures and providers.
