Since the UK's entry into the European Economic Community in 1973, there have been concerns regarding the gradual erosion of sovereignty and the widening powers of the European Commission. On 23 June 2016, the British people held a referendum vote to withdraw from the 28-member European Union (EU).

Now, months after the vote, the British exit, or Brexit, from the EU continues to have significant consequences for businesses throughout the world that have dealings with the UK and Europe.

To fully prepare clients for the legal and business implications now that Britain has decided to exit from the EU, K&L Gates has launched a global client support initiative—a dedicated team of multidisciplinary lawyers, a 24-hour hotline reachable by emailing , and a series of briefings by topics and sectors.
