Mr. Dunlop is an intellectual property lawyer with a broad range of experience protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights. This includes developing and enforcing brand protection strategies for trade mark and design owners, and providing contentious and non-contentious advice in relation to all aspects of intellectual property law.
Mr. Dunlop has extensive experience prosecuting trade mark applications and opposition proceedings with IP Australia, and has managed multinational trade mark portfolios for high profile brands.
Mr. Dunlop has represented clients in legal proceedings concerning patent, trade mark, design and copyright infringement, as well as the misuse of confidential information, misleading and deceptive conduct and passing off. In addition, he has experience prosecuting domain name complaints.
Mr. Dunlop also brings technology experience to his practice. He has a Bachelor of Science (majoring in physics and mathematics) and has gained further technology experience from his involvement in complex patent litigation. He also completed his Masters of Intellectual Property Law at the University of Melbourne, with a focus on patent related subjects. The combination of his degrees and technology experience allows Mr. Dunlop to assist clients in intellectual property matters in Australia in a variety of technical areas.
Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Dunlop worked in the intellectual property group of a large national Australian law firm and a boutique intellectual property law firm based in Melbourne.
